Has worked as Coordinator of Communications at the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean at the United Nations Development Programme, in New York. Former Director of the Safe Democracy Foundation, in Madrid, founded by venture investor Martin Varsavsky, and at Infodefensa.com, in Madrid, and in the newspaper Página/12, in Buenos Aires. Degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires (2001), Master’s degree in International Relations and Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid (2004) and Master’s Degree in Political and Institutional Communication from the Ortega y Gasset Foundation (2007). Jorge Escobar Galindo is a partner at the firm Palacio Lleras (Bogotá) and has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors as an advisor on corporate and administrative law matters, energy and gas regulation, compliance, and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Palacios Lleras, Jorge was an associate at prestigious law firms in Colombia, served as an advisor to the Office of the Superintendent of Corporations from 2015 to 2017, and was a lawyer in the Legal Vice Presidency of a renowned multilatin company in the energy sector.
In his professional practice, he has been noted for his advice on various successful mergers & acquisitions transactions in Colombia and Latin America, advice in administrative, regulatory, and corporate law, as well as his participation in the drafting of Law 1778 of 2016 against transnational bribery and in the process of Colombia’s admission to the OECD. He was featured in the prestigious international publication “The Legal 500 Latin America” in the area of “Mergers & Acquisitions.”
